The rooms here are a good size and have walk-in showers.

We were looking for a hotel close to the Departure Bay ferry for an early morning sailing. As we would not be checking in until later in the evening and leaving early in the morning we did not want to pay for a more expensive hotel. We were very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was,very clean, great location,and a full hot breakfast included the next A.M. We were very dubious as it looks a little run down from inside,and had passed it many times on previous trips,but wouldn't have thought to stay. The front desk staff were excellent,as were the ladies in the restaurant. I read reviews on the site, so those and the price were the decision makers. We would definitely stay again,and would recommend it in spite of the exterior impression.

Very good location near the Greyhound bus that I was taking. The walkway along the Harbour front is a great park area.

I was shown the wrong room when I arrived even though I had booked it ahead of time. I specifically asked for a non smoking room with two queen sized beds, and I was given a room that was a smokers room and it only had a bed and sofa bed. Obviously I did remind the head desk clerk that is the wrong room and was given the room that I asked for.

Recently updated and peaceful spot, with really helpful staff. Loved the restaurant! 🍽️

The front deck attendant was very friendly and helpful. He was the greatest :)

The rooms are getting out dated but they were comfy.

The service was exquisite. I was surprised that there was a newspaper outside my room in the morning. It provided me with reading material on my ferry ride. I like that Howard Johnstone is close to the ferry terminal and is affordable.

This hotel is in a quiet location and it's easy to walk to the boardwalk; the services here were good, and it's near Maffeo Park and the harbor, the departure bay ferry by bus, and the city center.

Very clean, easy checkin and the breakfast was excellent at the hotel.

Way too noisy. You could hear evrything next door and upstairs. Book elsewhere!! Id never stay in a HJ hotel again

The hotel was a great place for enjoying a very very nice area, really close to Departure Bay, the walking path around the harbour, and a beach and park. They gave me an a nice size and pet-friendly room with walk-in shower, music, as for instance. It had a comfortable location - only a short distance to Artzi Stuff Gift Shop👍

The friendly and helpful staff at Howard Johnson made our stay enjoyable. What really stood out to us was their pet policy, offering a great rate. The hotel's location was perfect for walking our dogs, with a park and sea wall just a short walk away. The room itself was spacious and clean, with a fantastic view over the pool and ocean. Having a small fridge and a back door opening up to the pool area was a nice bonus. The staff's welcoming attitude towards us and our dogs made us feel right at home. Plus, there was a Tim Hortons within walking distance.

Totally recommend this hotel.

Everything was good. Just an old hotel. No complaint. Food at resturaunt was amazing.
